Pack Operation
Cub Scout Pack 236
Do Your Best
South Lyon, Michigan - Chartered by Sayre Elementary School

Our pack was first chartered through Sayre Elementary PTA in the year 1970. Since then, membership
has grown strong and now, as of 2007, we boast roughly 70 scouts!  A very large Pack!

In Cub Scouts the boys are placed into Dens according to their age and school grade. 1st grade boys
are Tiger Cubs.  2nd graders are Wolves, 3rd graders are Bears, and 4th and 5th grade boys are
Webelos (We’ll Be Loyal Scouts). All dens put together form Pack 236.

When your son registers as a member of Pack 236, you as a parent are automatically a member of the
Pack Committee. The Pack Committee (Parent Planning Meeting) meets once a month to develop
events, track progress, assign tasks and as a group, makes decisions for the Pack. You may choose
how involved you want to be. Come to one meeting or come to all of them, it’s up to you. We are always
looking for fresh ideas and volunteers to operate and organize events.

Scouts are required to be in full uniform (Class A) for most events including Den and Pack meetings.
This helps to establish the sense of belonging and makes visible our commitment to the belief in God,
to loyalty, to our country, and to helping other people. As a member of the Pack your son will be involved
in a program which promotes twelve core values of character development:

    Citizenship
    Compassion
    Cooperation
    Courage
    Faith
    Health & Fitness
    Honesty
    Perseverance
    Positive Attitude
    Resourcefulness
    Respect
    Responsibility

These characteristics are developed through service projects, ceremonies, games, skits, songs,
crafts, and numerous other activities enjoyed at both Den and Pack meetings.

As a Cub Scout your son will be surrounded by friends and fun. He will be made to feel accepted by his
peer group regardless of race, class, religion, culture, or physical abilities. He will discover he can
perform challenging tasks. He will do requirements in his workbook in order to earn his rank. He will
be able to participate in community service projects, outings, parties, sleepovers, attend sports
games, go camping, and discover the world around him.

In order to benefit from the ideals of scouting a commitment is required. Dens typically meet twice a
month at a time that is determined by the Den Leader. Parent participation is a must in scouting and
great emphasis is placed on family participation.  Pack meetings are held once a month and Pack
events and/or Den field trips can be added.

If you have any questions or comments for the Pack leaders, please feel free to contact a committee
member listed in the contacts page.
