January, conveniently the weekend prior to the Super Bowl.
South Lyon Area Scouts Bowling League. Scouts at every rank participate in an eight week Saturday
morning league at South Lyons 700 Bowl. The year finishes with a short banquet where trophies are
handed out.
Webelos Overnighter - In January or February this Overnighter is for 4th & 5th graders, usually 5th
grade puts it together and invites 4th graders. In 2007, the scouts visited the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Great
reviews! http://www.airzoo.org/. In 2008, its the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum!
FEBRUARY
Blue Gold Banquet. Cub Scouts throughout the country participate in an annual
dinner and awards ceremony celebrating the legacy and anniversary of Scouting
and scouting achievements. Pack 236 also uses this event to announce the
recipient of the Sue Evanson Memorial Award (Scout of the Year). The evening
also includes den skits and the recognition of 2nd Year Webelos heading from
Cub Scout to Boy Scouts.
Sue Evanson Memorial Award (Cub Scout of the Year). 2nd year Webelos may apply for this award
which acknowledges his achievements through his years as a Cub Scout. The award is voted on by
parents in the Parents Planning Meeting prior to the Blue Gold Banquet.
MARCH
Pinewood Derby. An exciting event designed to inspire
bonding between parents and scouts along with friendly
competition between scouts. Pinewood Derby is a longtime
Scout tradition and is an event mostly associated with Cub
Scouts. The 2008 Pack 236 Pinewood Derby winners are:
